i purchased my P-7811FX about a month ago or 2 ago, and i am using everest for the temp monitoring. the temps seem normal for the gpu(70max), cpu(40,40max), but the hdd runs at around 55-57...i know that is right on the verge of max temp for it too. the plastic strip between the mouse buttons and touchpad have warped and started to pull up just alittle bit, but enough to notice when looking...has anyone else had this issue, and if so how bad did it end up getting?![]()
-
Call whoever sold you that and demand a replacement, or at least a new HDD and chassis. That is definitely not normal.
-
its not the hdd or cage that is warping, its the trim that goes around the touchpad...and from what ive been reading on the 7811 that is about what temp everyone is running for the stock hdd.
-
Well, if you still can return the machine and feel you want to do it, do so.
Otherwise it seems you will have to endure that "feature". -
I'm having the same problem. Both of my drives are idling around 47c...

Its not a problem its a feature
Seriously though, thats always been the biggest problem of the FX line of laptops. The hard drives are passivly cooled and have a big tendency to go insanely hot. I solved the problem by using a special cooler that i designed myself.
The sad thing is that with out a bit of case modification or a cooler that will hit the HD bays there isnt much you can do about the situations.
Though if you have a RAID i suggest breaking it apart as that will cause a decent rise in HD temps due to them both working and never really getting any idle time. -
Yeah I posted a couple weeks ago with the same issue. I've had the same issue and its only gotten worse with the heat from upgrading to raid 0. You'll probably start getting alot of flex above your touch pad
-
hmm interesting. have not seen anything like it YET on my 6860. is there any sort of cooling device that can be inserted into 2nd hd bay to cool the occupied bay? just wondering if anything like this exists. when i'm gaming i raise the back an inch or two to give the hot air some space to vanish.
-
Can you tell us more about the modified cooling? I'm thinking I'd rather cool down my laptop than install more harddrive... I see a little bit of warping as well and I have a p7805u.
-
I hope that 3 year accidental warranty I bought from Best Buy comes in handy because for some reason I dont see this lasting that long. Though I do wish I could remove the chasis and super glue it down, lol. I'll do it if someone gets me a guild on how to remove the plastic pieces safely.
-
I have noticed the same thing, while definitely not as bad.
On mine you can push down on that same plastic strip and it will flex/creak ever so slightly. When I open mine up to put in the bluetooth adapter, I'm going to put in a plastic chunk underneath that stip which will fix the push/flex issue.
I'm also going to put on copper mosfett coolers on all the ram chips on the flipside of the motherboard that aren't cooled. Should allow for higher memory clocks.
I circled in red the four ram chips that are not passively and actively cooled in any sort of way. -
Mine's all warped to hell, never thought that it would be the hard drives.
