lol i am at ease but I'm worried about the warranty. Ok thanks. Are there any signs that you opened your system?
-
i switched my screen to a 1920x1200 from the standard 1440x900
but when i first opened it...nope. but in another forum, someone opened theirs and found the connector wasn't plugged all the way in. they had video issues as well. -
lol question...there is a video connector where the multimedia panel is? so if i just remove that I may be able to solve the problem?
Could you tell me where all of the video connectors are? -
and the second one is in the picture. it's the thick wide cable that plugs into the connector at the top of the lcd screen. -
Well the GPU may not be the problem since I put the cooler on and it is cool...the usual temperature it was, or maybe slightly higher...before when I was saying it was hot I just left it on the table, and to be fair I never used it that way so I guess the situation wasn't the same.
On Friday/Saturday I got into safe mode through the external monitor and I was able to see that the 9800M GTS was detected in the device manager, but the monitor wasn't listed...so the cable probably came out...but if I open the system will it void my warranty? -
technically if you open it, you void your warranty.
most people tinker not to void the warranty, but to solve a problem so they don't have to wait 4 weeks to get their machines back. you have a few hard choices to make and we can't really make them for you, but before doing anything, make sure you have the right tools first! if you don't have them, do not attempt to fix anything. stripping screws is not a good sign! and neither is breaking the bezzle of the lcd screen. -
Ok I have the right tools but I'll wait...better be safe than sorry.

I'll definitely take pictures, but the guy from gateway support said to send the battery with it but not the adapter.
-
-
lol ok not a bad idea.
-
Hi again...well I think I'll be opening it up once the HDMI and VGA works on the external monitors I try tomorrow...since my monitor at home has too low a resolution I'll try it at university tomorrow. Hopefully I'll see the display...and from there I'll bring it home and take it apart.

Well...they received it according to the tracking information on Tuesday 14 Oct 2008...then they sent an email stating that they received it on Thursday 16 Oct 2008. Which is fine since they probably had to process it.
Then on Monday 20 Oct 2008 they sent an email stating that they have shipped it back. So the problem should have been solved. I'm happy with the swift repair(s) that was/were done to my Gateway P-7811fx.
I was reading stories about Gateway & Acer taking long to fix things...but they didn't even take a week! Well done Gateway /& Acer! I hope it doesn't give me any more problems. -
Nice..what was the problem? And wasnt that problem a month ago?
-
The screen wasnt coming on...but it was coming on when connected to an external monitor. Yeah it was a month ago but my cousin didn't send it immediately...or else I would've had it eversince. Ah well. Everything happens for a reason.
P-7811FX screen black totally
