I have been using this laptop for a good 6 1/2 months and the screen just died on me today. i tried restarting, plugging unplugging the charger but it wont do anything. Everytime i call the 1800 number in their website it keeps saying that they dont recognize the serial number on my laptop. when i called the best buy customer service about my problem all they can say is to call gateway back for support. I have a lot of my files in my laptop and really need help asap. When i registered my laptop on the mysupport website it tells me that my warranty is "not available"
I Purchased this laptop on 9/2/2008
Is there another number that i should be calling? i just emailed tech support and awaiting their reply. any help would be appreciated thank you

Do you have your receipt? If you do I'd call back and explain to them your notebook is under warranty as it's only six months old. If they give you the run around ask to speak to a supervisor. Keep working your way up until you get some results. If you can't get them to budge, there are other ways to get their attention, but we'll leave those for later if this tack doesn't work.
If you need to get you files off the drive you can pull the drive then put it in an external case and get the files off that way. -
Agreeing with ZaZ. You bought it from Best Buys, pound them first. Another question, have you registered your machine when you first bought it? This is the best way to "activate" your serial number within their support system.

i just sent it to their repair center via FEDEX and they are going to get it in a couple days. it cost me 75 bucks to send it back and they are going to pay for it to send it back to me again . juss wondering how long will it take to RMA it .
