There have been many threads about what the best CPUs are for our systems, but now that the 3.0GHz barrier has been broken, it is no longer clear whether the X9100 or T9900 is a better choice using the stock 120W PSU. I'm wondering what people's voltages are, how hot their systems run, what their battery life is, etc. for upgraded CPUs. Also I have a specific question: can the T9900 go up to 3.06GHz now?

If you want the fastest CPU it would come down to the X9100 becasuse it can be OC'ed higher than the T9900 can in Gateway FXs. 120W PSU isn't holding me back at 3.6 GHz with a overclocked GPU aswell. My battery life is about 1hr and 30 mins under normal conditions but if I were to game on battery it would only last around 15 mins.

On battery, GPU and CPU not overcloked but undervolt with 2 intelX25:
0h30 gaming
2h00 movies
2h30 word/excel, etc... -
I have an x9100 in my 7805u, but I've got it undervolted to 1.112. Without it being undervolted my games lag. I'd advise to anyone thinking about purchasing an x9100 to make sure they purchase or use a freeware utility to undervolt that 45watt cpu.

The E0 X9100 is much better than the C0 one right?
-
yeah. Just a later revision.

Do any other notable Core 2 Duos have these later E0 revisions?

So the 78xx series laptops only accept 800Mhz FSB CPUs?
-
No the 68xx series only supports 800Mhz fsb CPUs. The 78xx series can use the 1066Mhz CPUs.

I run my T9900 at 12x multiplier, undervolted. Runs cool (27 degrees idle, 40-45 max gaming) and battery lasts 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours for me; enough to watch movies in HDMI in the evening on my bigscreen TV. Also every game I own runs great on this CPU, been playing Assassin's Creed 2 1920x1200 max settings no AA at a good 30-35 fps average. Amazing game btw, love Florence -

I found out that pretty much all the Core 2 Duos have Intel Dynamic Acceleration (IDA) and could achieve this overclock, but first Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology (EIST) needs to be turned off (as you probably know). Any way how do you turn it off?

I was looking in the BIOS but could not find where to turn it off. Are you sure its there?
I checked again and it isn't in 9C.20. -
I own a P7809u and I am looking for a X9100 or T9900, which one will produce less heat without changing any parameter? The heat they produce is much higher than the original P8700? And at last does anyone know where can I buy these cpus, I have searched all over the web and no lucky yet. At amazon two used x9100 but no reply from the owners and ebay some wierd stuff. I appreciate any help.

The T9900 will produce less heat than the X9100 but will produce more than the P8700.
