Hi all, how you guys are doing?

I came here to compare your temperatures, because I am not totally sure that my system is stable at all...

I am using Dox 185.85, used several drivers but this one is without a doubt the best.

The room temperature here is 32ºC. At idle it goes to 42, 41ºC (but that makes the fan to stop pulsing, so the temperature increases until 48 and the fan starts again). Normal use 43ºC. Everything is normal I think until now.

But when I load a high demanding game, such as Crysis Wars, the GPU goes to 85, 86ºC at the most graphic demanding parts. With the back lifted, the max temperature is 76, 77ºC, staying most of the time at 60ºC~

Is everything here normal, or should I care?

Also, another thing I noticed is that when the GPU fan starts working, or pulsing, a very low pitched noise (such as piiiiii, but very low) starts, and that's another thing I am not sure about...

Please guys, could you help me?

    Thanks!

Seems fine to me. I Idle at 47 and demanding games go to 75 or so. I even have my GPU undervolted to .95 and have stuck on rubber feet to the bottom of my laptop.

I suggest applying ICD7 anyway, if it seems to worry you. At idle-normal it varies around 43-51C for me. I undervolted my GPU so the fan starts around at 50/51 and the pulsing noise isn't as loud as it used to be. Atleast you know its working whether its high or low pitch. Hows the CPU/TZS reading ?

That's the matter, I don't know if the problem is that in my city is very hot right now, or when playing demanding games my system gets hotter than usual...

I can't report any info because I'm on trip and didn't want to bring the laptop with me. Well, the fan is working, but I'd want to know if the pitch noise is just common.

I am a little bit enthusiast about drivers and temperatures, so I made a huge test with the drivers and Crysis Warhead bechmark.

    Here are the results:

I'd be glad if anyone here that has Crysis or Crysis Warhead could report the temperatures for me. Also, I'd like to be sure that the noise the fan does is totally normal (I think it is, but I still am not totally sure). Thanks!

EDIT3: Question regarding the battery - do you guys always use the battery, even if it is plugged? I use the laptop always on power, but I'd like to use the battery to prevent any shutdown if the energy get cut. But the problem is that some people said that it should be dangerous for the battery if it stays too hot, I mean, when I play, the battery could get very hot and get damaged...

    Is that true people? Thanks!

Takezo, those temperatures are normal, if you are who I think you are that makes us compatriots, a game like Crysis puts a lot of strain on the GPU, especially when external temps are above the 30's, which is not uncommon when you're standing on the Equator... I get that kind of temps using unmodded drivers.

As for the battery, I used to keep it plugged to avoid shutdowns, but that started wearing it out. I use the laptop only on AC now, and keep the battery stored with 30-40% charge, calibrating it once a month.

I see, thanks for the report p_mor!

Also, one thing that is bothering me is that I hear a low "piiiiii" coming from the GPU... man, I'd like to know if that's normal...

    Thanks guys!

Takezo, you might want to undervolt the GPU by modding the vBIOS with nibitor. I did it yesterday, and now, besides a fair drop in temps, there was a ~25% performance increase (don't ask me why, apart from the voltage I left all specs as they were).

But how can I do that? Also, I saw that topic in this forum, but it's just for the Gateway with 9800GTS, I have a 7908u with GTX 260m...

What's your model? And are you sure there was a performance increase???

    Thanks!

Mine's the P7805 (9800M GTS), you can read the BIOS using GPUz and edit it with NiBiTor, and then flash it with nvflash, as described in those threads. The procedure is pretty much the same, you'll just need to make your .rom file.

Yes, Maverick79's right, you can never be too careful, I never meant to imply there were no risks involved.

I see, but I am not sure that undervolting my GPU I will get any improvement, and also I don't think I have the courage to do such a thing haha :p

Could you guys tell me if the newer NV series which comes with the HD5650 have dedicated cooler - one for gpu, another for cpu?
