About the games, the laptop will just run it with hands tied. About temperature, Gateway is known to have one of the best cooling system for laptops, it shouldn't get any high.

My temps when playing games max out out to about 46 degrees Celsius for the cpu's and 82 degrees for the gpu max. this is on most games (batman arkum asylum, far cry 2, NFS shift) but for gta 4 the cpu heats up abit more, i'd say about 54-56 and gpu abit cooler, i'd say 75. you may not necessarily need cooling pad, but id advise you to raise the laptop abit when playing games for the air intake. battery like is good as well.

There are, however, a few cons. *My* touchpad seems to freeze up when typing or using the w s a d keys when playing games, which is pretty annoying when gaming. Another 7915u user has the same problem here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=440041

Also, the hard-disk for one gilmourD seems to be messed up. I run GWSCAN but mine came clean on the quick scan. haven't come round to doing the extended scan yet.

Lastly, there's been some debate on the DPC latency on the laptop which in a nutshell, causes some sort of audio pops. The most usual reason for high DPC latency peaks is a conflict between two hardware devices, usually the sound card and something else. I haven't tested mine yet, but you can follow up on it from this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=440701

These may seem like quite a few problems, but i assure you the gateway is still the best gaming laptop you will find on a budget. Im still amazed at how good arkum asylum looks. the trackpad issue isn't too big for me as i use an external mouse most of the time and plan on getting an xbox 360 controller soon for gaming. The HDD failure is a one off thing i suppose, though it'll still ne under warranty so if you do decide on getting the gateway, u'll wanna scan it first to be safe.

And how does the Asus G60 compare to the Gateway P-7915u in your opinion? I'm still somewhat at a cross-roads at which one to get (and yes, I have read most of the forum posts and threads, both in Asus and Gateway forums.)

DPC latency seems to be almost completely negated when the powermizer app is disabled.

So far, I have only monitored the temps by feeling the case, but it seems to do much better than most laptops.

The only problem i am really experienceing at the moment, is wow crashing fairly regularly (It locks the whole machine up), but I don't know enough about that problem yet to place any blame.

Try adjusting this setting by lowering it or turning it off.

Synaptics Pointing Device > Right Click > Device Settings > Settings > Pointing > Sensitivity > Palm Check

Exactly! Its set by default ONE tick too high, any keyboard use (other then arrow keys) disables touchpad for 2-3 seconds.

guys im still debating wether to return my 7915u and get it replaced for a new one, as i mentioned on one of my posts, has any else noticed this when the cpu fan kicks on, a high pitched pin noise?

    Is this normal???

Also, has any1 played l4d2 on this, i have played it and for some reason my mouse or the grapchis idk what it is, stutter horribly when i move left and right the movement jerks, its not smooth and steady.

What tests or programs can i run to see if it is defective??

I also found a very minor scratch on the side barley noticable, which makes me think this laptop might of been mishandled.

What do you guys think i should do?

yea i disabled powermizer that fixed the sound issues people had, with audio breaking up sometimes, but still when i turn on the computer and the fan kicks in i hear that annoying high pitched sound.

I still get the stuttering. i have to disable the dual core setting in l4d2 whatever its called to get it to work properly
