I see that a lot of you with a "stock" P6138FX have gotten around 7000 in 3DMark06. I have tweaked my system and it's on a fresh Vista Ultimate x86 install. I am running mostly "default drivers" that windows update picked up on. Only drivers I installed were WLAN, Modem, and touchpad. I am using the nvidia drivers that windows update picked up (can't remember version). All unneeded services have been disabled and startup is minimal.
My score was around 6500.
What can I do to get it closer to 7000? Should I change video drivers? I didn't change any settings in 3DMark06..so I'm guessing I'm using defaults.
What options in 3DMark06 should I be using? Resolution, which tests, etc.
If you need any more info about what I have installed or done to my install just ask and I should be able to tell you. I will eventually be getting a T9300 and I'm sure that'll give my score a boost, but until then I just wanna get as close to 7000 as possible on "stock".
EDIT: Can a mod please fix the title of this post...heh got the model number all jumbled![]()

Did you put your power setting on High Performance. My marks are in the SIG.

Drivers should improve your score by about 200-300 points.

I found 169.09 over at LV2G ( http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16152 ). Anyone running these? Heh guess I just need to try a few versions and see which one does better. -
Well I installed the 169.09 drivers and my 3DMark06 score went up quite a bit. My score is now at 6913.
I still would like to know the settings/tests that you guys run to get your scores. I think right now I'm using defaults with 1280x854 resolution (this is kind of a weird resolution, but I kept it). I think with my drivers I was using before (the ones from windows update), the default resolution was 1280x800.
Still trying to get as close to 7000 as possible so any help/suggestions are appreciated. -
Getting a CPU upgrade will do the trick.

A processor really does help... -
Sounds like you had AA turn on or had higher res when you did the first test. Leaving everything at default should net you 6800~7000. Also, to achieve few more points, exits all memory resident programs like virus checker.

Yep, I have services/startup tweaked. Not running anything I don't need in background. I should be running everything at default, but I didn't know if I was supposed to select any additional tests or not and/or disable some.

Did you reinstall vista?
Did you download all the drivers from gateway support site?
Did you plug in the ac adapter? Set it on high performance?
Nvidia control panel should be on performance, not balanced or quality.
Thats how I got a score of 7169
