I have a Gateway P6313 laptop where some of the keys are not working. I have replaced the keyboard, but the same keys are still not functioning. Some of the keys involved include the 5/%, 6/^, -/_, Left-Control, and Delete.

Has anyone seen this and have some advice?

Are there any diagnostics available that I could try and test the keyboard controller?

Is there any documentation describing how to remove the system board to look at the keyboard controller?

    Thanks.

The connection to motherboard might be the problem. I hear those things break easily that is why you need to remove it with extra care.

Consider a replacement motherboard, or if you don't have the budget then an external keyboard will do.

    Good luck.

I checked the connector where the ribbon cable from the keyboard is plugged, and it looked OK. The new keyboard also came with its own ribbon cable, which I used.

Is there another connector after the ribbon cable to get to the motherboard?
