It served me well for 2.5 years. Yesterday after I power it on, the lcd turns gray with vertical strips across the whole lcd. All the buttons on the media bar, the wifi and hd lights up, indicats those works fine. I tried FN+F4, nothing shows up at the external display.
Here is my thoughts, since it turns gray before the gateway logo and POST. my video card may still works. so does the lcd becasue i can not get external display to work.
    maybe my flash/bios is gone.

    any thoughts, suggestion? thanks

More than likely GPU overheating. Mine does that too sometimes. It's probably just reaching its time :(

Does the GPU take over display after POST?
