P6831 for $670 at BB in Michigan!!!

Ok guys...I want everyone to get the same deal I got or better. After I found out that a guy here got the P6831 for 900 at BB I had to try it myself. Here's what I did!

I called my local best buy, asked them to check the prices of the P-6831 in the area (within 100 miles). Low and behold - just 1 hour drive away from my city a BB ran out of the P-6831's @ $670!!!

They ran out, so the girl on the phone told me to ask the best buy that sold it for 679 to do a green screen order. I called the BB that sold it for 670 and asked "I would like to order a laptop through green screen". They connected me with a sales rep - then when sales rep got the right laptop they connected me with customer support that finalized the transaction.

For all of you sitting on the fence about laptops - this deal cannot be beat. It's important everyone acts fast about this because all the P6831's will be gone soon because of the P6860.

GO GET IT!!! - all it takes is a little work!

 

I can confirm this as well, $670 on the last one in central Ohio. Typing on it now. At that price, it makes a perfect gaming worthy companion to my macbook air. Even had the T5550 with the 1.83. Sweet score.

 

I tried and couldn't do it... is there more to this secret?

My BB searched 500 miles radius around Rochester, MN and couldn't find one available to even consider doing the deal... plus of course they said their Green Screen price is at 1215... which doesn't help as they don't have any anyways.


anyone willing to order another one and ship it to me?... I'll off course cover shipping... and we could probably work out an incentive as well, lol. I have ebay and other website feedbacks to back up my honesty. I'd require the same of course.

For those of you who can't get the deal - I got mine at Midland, Michigan Best Buy.

They had it on clearance, it sold fast. And mine is coming on may 10th because they didn't have any more in stock.

I don't know if you can cite other stores, but if you tell your BB store to check Midland BB's clearance price - they will see the 670.

I was told that one BB can't match another BB's clearance price - but I guess you can see what strings you can pull.

 

even if they give you a higher price, you can ask them to pricematch it to the price of the other bb store. it's like their policy to pricematch like that and if you find something cheaper at a different place like circuit city

It was at Tuttle Crossing in Columbus, I didn't find anything else in stock in the Best Buys in Columbus.

 

just found out something as well....they have a 6832 with a x3100 video card for 899.99 i sure hope this isn't the one they are getting, cause that sure would be messed up....

I confirmed the order of a P-8631FX laptop. So whatever the P-8631FX laptop is, i'm getting it for that price.

But honestly guys, just call into your local best buy, try it a couple of times with different people, it's all about who wants to help you and who wants to be an ass. On their screens in the customer support area they can check which best buys in the area are selling it for and at what clearance price. Then, get the store that is selling it for the lowest price and call them and ask to do a green screen order - like I explained in my first post.

Hage confirmed that it was in ohio. So, my guess is that anyone in the michigan/ohio area has a good chance of getting the laptop at that price, any other area I don't know.

I don't know if it's possible to buy it from one of the stores we got ours from and have them send it to you because they told me I would come pick it up.

Just keep trying.

 

yep, exactly what i did. i was cool with the sales rep so they we're ready to help. even looked beyond the 100 mile radius, but no luck. but i will be trying today.

P-8631? you just siad P-8631? that is different from a P-6831. I just dont see best buy selling a $1300 laptop at half off for $670? They never have had those kind of deals that I seen. So which is it P-8631 or P-6831?

 

It's definitely the 6831, unless the 6832 has the same orange trim and the x3100 can play Gears of War on Medium. I'll scan my receipt tomorrow for whatever that's worth.

Interesting fact, they just removed the XL from Gateway's website. And the P172X FX just dropped to 1949.

look, i been on the phone half the day trying to find just one on sale for a 1000.00 bucks and no dice. i was picking towns that we're out of the way and no where near civilization. and the best i could come back with was 1249 - 150 for open box before tax. not to mention shipping to California.....a sad day in the 6831 fx community......

Incidentally, how's the upgraded screen? I don't think I've seen you comment about it.

 

i couldn't even find one for me, but im not greedy either. they minute they say they have a few, you'll be right there on the list.

and my screen... love it. never commented to much on it in gateway forums, because i bought it for my dv9740us. then when i got the gateway....of course those upgrades had to come here

and i went against my better judgment and talked to a few store people in best buy. now that was indeed something there...a few of them had the p-6831 and some had the p6860 and they all upgraded parts, but one guy. and he hasn't upgraded because he was waiting for the prices to come down... now isn't that something. i about died laughing, because they all said the same thing... put it back to factory before service. but no one really stressed about memory upgrades and hard drive upgrades. and it was up in the air about cpu & screen...but i am not saying this is a fact and go out an try it! (leave upgrades in) just letting you know what i found out. every one has a little upgrade in them...

 

Hey guys, the BB website shows that the North Olmsted, Ohio (near Cleveland) store has at least one in stock. I haven't called them yet, but hage stated earlier in this thread that he got the last one in central Ohio for $670.

wow $670, thats good im thinking of getting the P-6831 FX but being in the UK its hard, is there anywhere in US that will ship them to UK (hopefully some where that sells them at $670) if so then i WILL get one thats only like £400 not including TAX and shipping, so total about £500 which you cant beat.

im sure everyone and there mother would grab one at $670. hell for that price id buy one just as a back up for parts . i found a couple near me or atleast within 80 miles but dont feel like driving an hour and a half just to find out i cant get the deal and as far as calling the people on the phone at BB for the most part arent to friendly .

 

Just got off the phone with a BB that some in stock and they wont let it go for less then 1149.00 the girl said a store clearance of an item is because the store that was selling the item didnt sell enough of the item so they clearance it out but thats on a store to store basis so she couldnt match it.

 

now this sounds more like right. because i called like 20 stores. and no dice! they we're not going for it. the sales people were friendly, just not going to drop the price because of a store clearance some where else.....
