Looks like they removed the P6831FX from Best Buy's website. I don't know if it's removed from its inventory list entirely.

I'm aware of that. It's just that the P6831FX has still been available for sale. With the removal of the P6831FX from the website, this could mean that the P6831FX stocks are either completely out or totally phased out.

No, it actually just means that the warehouses are out. Given the popularity of the laptop, it's probably sold out everywhere, but there's always a chance that a few stores may be carrying stragglers.

The Best Buy website is handled by corporate, which is too far removed from the actual stores.

??? Unethical to stop selling something?

On that note. I did check at BB in case they had some laying around. The guy did mention to me that the 6860FX is supposed to go on sale next week. Did mention $1250 price tag ($100 off).... take it for what it's worth...

I think the P6860 is supposed to replace it. They continued to sell the P6831 as long as the stock heald out. They are the same chasis and mostly the same parts accept that the P6860 has a faster processor and more ram. They lowered the price of the P6831 when the P6860 came out.

Yep, its out at all the best buy's around me too. I was keeping a close eye on this laptop for several months before I bought one 2 weeks ago. I found one at a best buy that is more than 30 min from my house. They had the P-6831 clearanced out to 972.99, and then they took another 10% off because the only one they had left was the floor model (which was in excellent condition). I got one hell of a deal :). I'm sure they are only planning on carrying the P-6860 in the future. Having both models is rather redundant. I've stopped into the local bb several times in the last 2 weeks and they only have the 6860 model now.
