Hi guys, my fx is acting weird. One day firefox stopped working and would not launch. Every time i started it, it would not appear. I then reinstalled it and got an error that I could not write to the default directory. I then tried to uninstall Firefox and it would not delete some files. When I manually tried to delete the file I got this error "Error 0x80070091" that the directory is not openable and corrupt, non empty, thus non deletable. All I can really do is to rename the folder. I thought this was a firefox thing but when it happened to a backup file from another harddrive it got me scared. Is this common with the fx or vista? Thanks.

    not common.
more details needed: os, security programs, any relevant history (notebook meeting the floor in obscure circumstances)

i would start with a full scan disk (all options checked)
then some security scans, trend micro housecall is good start

    keep us updated

Thanks for the reply this is with Gateway's factory Vista 64 install with norton removed, and firefox, and crysis loaded. I'll try the scan disk shortly. Thanks.

do a chkdsk and make sure your files or drive are not corrupted.

Thanks giving that a whirl now. Hopefully it finds something. I am beginning to think these gateways are cheap.

Thanks guys for the responses. I ran the test overnight and nothing came up bad with the disk, I also did a memory test also to no avail. I dunno if I got a bonk machine. It was a refurb so maybe this is why. I may try a bios upgrade to see if it helps. I'm surprised Im the only one with this problem. Sucks!
