I brought my laptop to class today (college) and I turned it on. It didn't do anything. So when class was over I brought it back to my dorm and tried again. I didn't turn on.

I plugged in the AC Cord, and turned it on, and it worked greatly. I just thought maybe I had a dead battery. I let it charge for an hour, then I unplugged the AC. It went dead.

I've had my laptop since June. I don't think it's a software problem that is stopping my laptop from charging.

Do you think it's a bad battery? Do you know how much a new battery can cost me? Or where I can get one?

    Thanks for the help.

It may be the connection between your battery and the computer. You may want to try another battery if possible before buying a new one.

make sure the there is nothing between your battery and your notebook (dirt), also make sure you lock it. call your local best buy for a battery, and you might be able to test your battery there.

I called Gateway, and they are sending me a new battery. If that doesn't work, i'll take it to best buy and see what goes on.

Take out the battery, let you laptop sit for 10min, and pop in back in and see.
