    Hey all

    Here's the deal:

When outputting through HDMI to an LCD tv at 720p, I get a noticeable decrease in my games performance, even though when I run them on my laptop display I run at a higher res!! (native 1440x900 vs the TV's 1280x720 or whatever it is).

How come that happens? Any idea why it might be happening?

Also the tv for some reason is not showing the whole screen, it's eating up a bit on the sides and the lower bottom of the screen, and no adjustment on the output resolution or on the tv itself seems to give me the whole image. Aero seems to also switch off.

Running vista64, nvidias notebook drivers ver 179.32

    Any help appreciated.

I tried output through HDMI to HDMI from my P6860FX to a Sony LCD and had no change in performance at all. Is this how you are connecting your laptop? Screen looked incredible on 40 inch 1080p Sony LCD. I wouldn't buy a 720p tv for laptop connect. The resolution is lower than 1440 by 900 at 720p I believe.

    yes, hdmi to hdmi

and yes, the resolution is lower than laptop's default, which is why the performance decrease has me at a loss

what drivers are you currently using? I've tried playing gta4 on a tv and it played pretty good @ 1920*1080.

i'm using dox modified 184.44.1 one. Try using a different one (nvidia just came out with 179.48) and see if it's any different. also, try to play around in nvidia's control panel settings - to find the optimal resolution for your tv, so you won't have the black parts around the screen.
