My onboard mic has never worked, or maybe I don't know how to work it, any ideas? I hate using my headphones and really just want to use the onboard one.

Also I reloaded Vista and in Device Manager under Other Devices I have an unkown device. It says Location 1 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus). Anyone know what I am missing?

Are you using the correct IDT drivers?

Speakers are working fine, the mic is not working but it never has. or I am doing something wrong and don't know how to use it.

Your mic probably works, its just the mics on our computers pretty much suck. Gateway uses a very very poor quality mic... they had to save costs somehow to get these prices on these systems i suppose.

One trick is to turn the volumes all the way up in the properties panel... doesnt really help but it will start to register sounds

As to your unknown device... i would suggest getting the new driver (iaTa's thread has the newest drivers for our systems)
