    What have you guys done to work around the horrible placement of the function key?

    Is there any way to set the key to ALSO be ctrl, and bind the function command to a different key?

    My games aren't picking up the function key, so there's no way I can just bind the function key for different in-game commands.

    Are you guys just relearning to use the control button that is slightly over to the right in the new location or what have you guys done to get around this inconvenience?

    its not just on the 7801's and the 7805. and it's been asked many many times before on this board. short answer is - no, there's nothing you can do except get used to it. people have tried everything short of rewiring the keyboard. the function key is hard-coded.

    I'm pretty sure that most everyone here felt the same way when they first started using them. I've finally got used to mine after a month or so. Now it's second nature to me. Hopefully you'll become used to it as well and not even think about it.

    Good luck with your rig.

    Its been a year and I'm still not used to mine thats why I bought a nice external keyboard for gaming. And to follow up on the other posts I have yet to see anyone find a work-around for this problem here on the forums.

    I believe, nofxman32, that you've described the best "work-around" -

    using an external keyboard.

    Yep, the best and only work-around solution is an external keyboard.

    It continually annoys me. I don't know how many times I have cut and paste and it doesn't work and each time, I get confused before remembering. ARRRRRGH

    I've become pretty custom to it really quickly to be honest.
    What sucks now though is when I'm on my buddies laptop or something I'm forever hitting his FN key thinking its the Ctrl key because the new location is what my fingers know to go to when going for Ctrl. :p
