Ok, after I boot up my p7801u laptop and login it freezes up after a while and a weird white star icon appears in the task bar. It just started doing this and I have no clue what the problem is. When the computer freezes up I can still move thew mouse arrow around but I can't click anything. When I try to bring up the task manager I can't even click anything on it either. Does anyone what this problem is or if the white star icon means anything? Thanks in advance.

Have you run a virus scan and have you installed anything recently or visited any questionable sites?

I have run a few virus scans before and they never found anything. I have been to some sites recently that may be questionable but the laptop didn't start doing this until well after I went to them.

It sounds like your computer is infected. Can you open up your task manager? Try Ctrl + Alt + Del and select "Task Manager". There's obviously a process that should not be running at all (white star icon).

I can open up the task manager but when I open it up it won't let me click anything on it.
