To anyone having problems with this game, here it is running flawlessly on my beauty Rage [PC] running Max Settings 1920x1200 4xAA on Laptop (P7805u) - YouTube

Most of the issues were fixed by updating and by placing a rageconfig.cfg file with this text:

    vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 8192
    vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly 8192
    vt_pageimagesizeunique 8192
    vt_pageimagesizevmtr 8192
    vt_restart
    vt_maxaniso 4
    image_anisotropy 4

in the base folder in the Rage installation folder.
Also running this game off an SSD helps :)

Yea, can't wait to test out the retail release!

-Edit- By disabling GPU re-encoding my constant fps increased from 30 to 60. Game runs fantastic.

Wonder how much your CPU upgrade helps.

Since it is a x9100 he could declock it to see. While the L2 is larger that should have little impact.................

I just wanted to add my settings for anyone with a stock CPU, I have this game and all my game running with more fluid framerates (Like the undervolt mod). I only have like a micro lag in Rage now but it only happens every once in awhile.

    My settings are as follows:

For rage I downloaded a custom cfg file, I dont recall the name of it but there was ones for low, medium, high and ultra I think. Google it you should be able to find it, anyway I used the high detail cfg file. In game AA 4X, 1440X900 res and GPU transcode off (I dont have the patch installed so I have no other options). I am using the newest drivers released 285.62 x64. In my nvidia control panel I have everything set to default except for Threaded optimization-off, Power management mode-Maximum performance, AA mode-Enhance application setting, Texture filtering-High quality and Maximum pre-rendered frames set to 6.

These settings have made my laptop perform on any game (Dead Island, Deus Ex, Rage, ect.) better than I have ever seen, I was always bothered by a constant micro lag and now everything is as fluid as water.

Do not mistake my laptop for stock, Look at my sig, those mods could play a part in it also. I hope this helps someone else as I am finally gonna enjoy Rage and all my games the way they should be enjoyed.

-EDIT- Two things I forgot, I have Powermizer off, and Dx3d overrider with all my games profiles set to high, vsync and buffering on.

Those are some very good points. The maximum pre-render set to a high number like 6 creates a very small amount of input lag, but the game does look and feel smoother (although actual fps does not change). I just tested it with The Witcher two that runs at an average 30-35 fps for me. When Prerender is set to a max of 0, there is no input lag and the game is smooth. When set to 6 there is a very small input lag with the mouse and keyboard, but the game feels smoother as if in the 40 fps range.

I also disabled powermizer and Use Dx3d overrider with the same settings. Nice going ;)

Thanks Andros, I never imagined that the pre render setting would improve fluidity of gameplay as much as it did, im glad I fiddled with this setting now. I hope other people try this out and get a all around better experience with their games now.
