What settings have you turned down? What is your resolution? What is the shader level set to, etc.? The single player tends to be more intensive than the multiplayer.

what version drivers are you using? Also even though SC2 is very graphically intense its even more CPU intense. I would open up task manager and GPU-Z and play SC2, when it gets laggy alt-tab out and take a look to see where your bottleneck is. Also, is this in all game types? I would be willing to be that it only gets this way at the end of maps or when you are playing mucho money maps. This would be indicative of cpu or ram issue from my experience. If it happens only on multi and not on single player then you might make sure you have a good network connection as well. Well that pretty much covers all bases. Report back and maybe I can narrow it down even more.

What I notice on my gateway P78 laptop is, SC 2 taxes a lot on CPU, 9800mgts can handle high setting no problem if it is related with GPU. In 3v3 battle or vs couple insane computers, you'll notice no matter even with the lowest settings, the lag will still be there. The only thing to solve the lag other than internet, is upgrade CPU.

I suggest turn some settings like effect, physics settings down a couple from max so it taxes less on CPU.

I heard that SC2 primarily uses 1 CPU core, which is why it poses a problem for slower dual core CPUs.
