Hey guys, I'm trying to find the eSata driver for the Gateway P7811FX but I haven't been able to find any. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. (Oh, and don't send me "Let me google that for you" crap...)

I don't think there's a driver specifically for eSATA it's just a port taken off the Intel SATA controller you should already have drivers installed for, assuming you're in AHCI mode anyways, if you're in IDE compatibility it just won't work.

Bingo. That's what I had before too but it didn't work on Vista for some reason...so I format my hard drive to play around with Windows 7 and right after I plug in the ext hdd it works like a charm. Thanks for your responses :)

If I'm not mistaken, that link is only for the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, which is only used for managing a RAID array. I think you should also get the latest Intel software for your chipset. I think the infinst_autol.exe will autoupdate all your chipset drivers, but you can go to Intel's site and figure out what you need to download based on your mobile chipset.

I've updated my SATA controller using the "floppy" drivers since forever - you don't need the Storage Manager. Download the 32 or 64-bit floppy ZIP file, unzip them into a folder, and you can update your driver.
