Hey guys, whenever I try to put in my headphones into the headphone jack, the sound keeps playing through the laptop speakers. When I do put the headphones in, the mute fxn doesn't work. Is this a driver issue, or faulty laptop? Thanks in advance.

Are you still running Vista 64bit or did you downgrade to XP?

First check the IDT Audio Panel in Control Panel. If nothing is out of whack, then re-install the driver. Hopefully this will take care of it.

It was actually more likely your settings. The 7811FX uses the Conexant CX20561 which includes some pretty cool features actually. In the control panel you will find SmartAudio where you can set up multiple streams by unchecking classic mode. You can direct certain audio to the headphone jack and other streams to the speakers. Best example for usage to me would be voiceovers on the headphones with background music out of the built-ins.
