Like the title says - has anyone had any issues moving to SP2 with 78xx laptops?

No issues after a factory restore install. Albeit there are probably compatibility concerns with some low-level and kernel-mode 3rd party device drivers (at least until they release it to windows update, the MS Devs haven't been tested by the mass of end-users yet). Back up your hard drive(s) & data before you proceed.

Just install the update. There's nothing wrong here (Vista Ultimate x64 on 7801u).

Well, I ran into my own issue - seems I VLited myself out of being able to install SP2. It says I'm lacking something "needed" to install the Service Pack, but doesn't tell me what. I'm assuming it's UAC, which I disabled in VLite.

I've installed Vista SP2 on both my desktop and the 7805u and so far have not had any problem.

I just dont see the major benefit? I have tweaked my vista to run very fast on SP1 and have everything customed to my liking...I feel like SP2 will alter some settings and or toss my customization into the mix...Can someone convince me otherwise? Thanks

If you simply chose to disable it and not REMOVE it, you can re-enable UAC by going to Run: msconfig and going to the Tools tab, and then Launch Enable UAC (Restart required iirc).

If you removed UAC or something else required to install SP2, you're probably not going to be able to install it. SP2 should also require the Windows Update service set to Manual and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service set to Manual.

SP2 is a series of security and stability updates. It's not recommended to skip it.
