    Hi,
I had forgot about the Stripe and other issues of RAID0 so I am getting turned off quickly on the thought of Raid my two XT's.

My thought is SSD primary and XT secondary as storage, user files, desktop etc. Now which SSD to chose?

I can live with 120GB and the new sandforce drives have some serious numbers too them. I haven't heard of alot of people with issues yet, a very good sign. My other choice for not much more would be a tried and true Intel 160GB X-25m G2. The extra space would be nice but of course not quite the performance but also proven reliability.

So has anyone tried the new Sandforce drive(s) on our machines? If so how is it? Also how much better are the 50,000K IOPs drives?

Well, my next SSD will be a sandforce controller. The speeds are amazing and i love the low overhead write multiplication they have!

As to which is better... meh

In synthetic benchmarks the sandforce wins... but whether or not you can actually tell the difference i'm not sure. I think in end user expirence they would match up about equally. I mean you are talking differences in speeds we cant really register as humans. So i would buy which ever seemed the best deal to you price vs preformance vs capacity.

Thanks, For testing I'm trying a 4K stripe with Raid0 on the XT's but I can't see keeping it. The ICH9m uses CPU overhead for the raid so for optimum writes and system resource a SSD is probably in my near future.

The 4K stripe didn't even last 24 hours. 20% cpu usage and increased seek times were too much for me. I have the XT in for the pimary for now. I am ngoing to give it a chance but I may need to go SSD there for primary.

I just ordered the Mushkin Deluxe 120GB and am hoping to use the XT as storage, user files and maybe game installs etc.................
