    Hi all,

Thinking of getting a P7906A, and was just wondering whether there were any known issues with this particular series. Anyone?

Only Issue I'd heard of is using a mouse with gaming. Can't remember the exact specifics but I think some mice had isses and others didn't. These seem to also be the 1440x900, my prefernce is for the 1920x1200 screen.

I just wish they would release a varient here in the US. I could get one and swap out my present 1920x1200 then sell the P7805 to make up some of the difference. Next step would be a QX9300.............

I have the 7915u and they are good laptops. They're pretty much the same as the 78xx series, which the majority of the members in this forum have. The only problems I have had is with installing ubuntu but everything else works great. As far as the supposed issue with 1440x900, I see it as something better than not. Obviously, it wont give you pixel per pixel clarity for 1080p movies, but if you're a gamer, it's better to have the lower resolution screen since laptops in general (and these Gateway laptops are no exception) can't keep up with having the highest settings in modern games.

Are these even available? It seems the quad cores are few and far between. Every once in a while they pop up, but rarerly and never here in the states. I guess with the advent of i7's it is essentially a lost cause getting to see one either...............

The 79xx series is out for at least a year now. True that it is not in demand like other brands/models.

Hopefully Gateway will keep the P7 series going with the latest CPU and GPU. It has been a winner for them.

    cheers ...

I know the 79xx's are but specifically the 7906a, that is a quad core variant. I've been looking at getting a G73-jh as quad i7 and later I can upgrade the cpu further. I just love though the 1920x1200 and am not sure about 1920x1080. I also would like USB 3.0.................

The 79xx series is already not being made for some reason
which sucks cause I'd like to have gotten a new one even finding a used one is looking to be somewhat difficult.
