i can still use it but i cant put it back in.
while trying to put it back in, i dented the metal holders, and the super tiny plastic parts that hold the X-truss together.

    what are my options?
i bought it from bestbuy around beginning of april..

If you bought the warrenty they will fix it for free.

If you didnt... well you're hosed and will have to buy a new keyboard, or life with the annoyance of the slagged spacebar

Call Gateway and see how much a new keyboard would cost.
Gateway sent me a new keyboard free when the keys started melting on it...

Also you could check ebay for the keyboard

if i can get one for free, i'd do that.
what did you exactly say to them?
and doesnt gateway come with some warranty even though i didnt buy separate warranty?
and wouldnt i be voiding the warranty if i replace the keyboard?

They will send you a new keyboard for free, just talk to them on the online chat. Then you can remove the button and un-bend the metal holders and you should be able to replace the key and not the entire keyboard. Gateway sent me a replacement keyboard a couple of days ago and, despite being severely butchered by stupid FedEx, I got the key I needed.

Umm I think you're gonna have to replace the entire keyboard.
That metal part is part of the backbone of the keyboard...

As far as voiding the warranty, replacing the keyboard is very easy and there are no "Warranty Void if" stickers involved. You should be able to do the job in under 15 minutes. There are dis-assembly instructions somewhere on this forum...
