My ES P9600 is running fine, so not all ES's have problems...
-
Whats the storie with these ES QS cpu s we get from Taiwan?
-
No idea, but extremeprocessor is from Taiwan and everybody's been raving about him so far. So nothing wrong with him at least.
As for reporting it as a returned item, do I need a special sticker to put on the box? (I threw away the original packaging which was only a thin cardboard envelope anyways) Or do I just tell the person at the counter? -

-
Better question is, was the seller from the US and was it made in the US? =p
-
Its like a Walmart thing lol
Someone here pointed me to extremeprocessor and I did. -
After I put In my new QS, P9600 cpu what performance rateing should it say ,,going to install now.
Done:why dont device manager report the new cpu all else does 3dmark06, the bios does report.? -
It says 5.6 for my T9600... no idea about the P9600 as T9600 has 10.5 multipliers and runs @ 2.8 ghz, while the P9600 has 10 multipliers and run @ 2.66 ghz

-
Still awaiting my P9600. Seems my shipping is a bit slower...
Edit: It is in NY, so I imagine some time this week............. -
Install was a little trickey ,but was my 1st time alls fine
-
I have replaced more CPU's than I care to remember. I can however guarenty that I'll take a 15 minute job and stretch it out all night. I tend to over think and over analyze everything............
-
It still shows a P8400 in device manager all other reports does report the new P9600 ,is there a way to reset devicemanager? To report the new CPU ?
Thanks -
-
Actually select the cores and use remove, it will reboot and do this for both cores. Just got mine and this is the cpu that should have been here.
3dmark 06 overclocked GPU got me to 10,125 from 9275 and Xilisoft went from 14 FPS conversion on a HD movie to 17 FPS. Super PI went from 22s to 17s at 1m, 388 from 338 on cpumark 99, etc etc etc. The video conversion is the only real time I use alot of cpu right now but man this is a great cpu. -
Looks like the P9600 is getting overall a very positive response, very nice. I'm still waiting to see, if I can swing a T9800 with the predicted Intel price cuts. My original intention was a P9600.
-
Fantastic thanks! I just got home and cleaned a ton of snow and getting ready to do some tests on this cpu , and just reset it now as I type on the other lappy lol lets see what Improvments it has now ,Let me know how you are,,.....................thanks
3dmark06 was10125 2nd .. 10130 so we are in the same ballpark QS cpu P9600. -
I got a bluray playing and Utube 1080P Video playing and a HD movie from the hardrive playing AT the Same time Hows that and alls well lol 3 pictures at same time

Is prime95 good to strest test the cpu ? -
-
What Gpu OC setings are best and stable with this upgrade I tryed some of my own and some went blue screen so I backed off some @683 899 1708
-
I am using 700,900,1700 I also though use a Targus 180w brick so power is not an issue. Haven't had a BSOD yet..............

How's the P-7805 handle the extra heat from the T9600? I was originally looking at the P9600, but the QS T9600 sell for about the same and offer 2.8 instead of 2.66. Is the extra heat and less battery life worth it? or just get the P9600 and call it a day? Reason I'm asking is the original CPU is only 25w while the T9XXX series are rated for 35w.
-
The lower TPD should also be friendlier to the battery life too. Another consideration is these are real close to the rated limit of the power brick at high load without over clocking the GPU. With the higher TPD and an overclocked GPU you are probably well over stressing the power brick. So to me the P9xxx series just makes much more sence with these systems. -
Been running Prime95 over 3hrs. temp= 57 c both
looking at that power brick on ebay 69.bucks looks good deal -
undervolt you cpu to get a lower temperature. I did it with mine and am satisfied...
-
-
What I love about this, compared to my TL-64, is I can flood the CPU with prime95 on both coes and the system still feels responsive. This is just an awesome computer...........

Hey TANWare
Are you happy with your upgrade?(money well spent) And do you think I should up grade to Higher watt Powersupply do you see any bugs with these QS Chips
Thanks for helping! -
OK got it runningHow do I paste the rmclock display so you can see mine ?
And tell me what it means it looks a lot different than yours.... -
For me yes, it is money well spent. To be honest there is only a rare occasion I'll use the extrra power. This is when doing Video editing and also RAW editing with my Digital camera. Most other tasks I do rarely hard press the original P8400.
Yes it boots a second or two faster, really not such a big deal. My HD video codec went from 40% to 30% CPU usage, again no big deal as the P8400 was still more than sufficient. For the normal desktop user it really isn't worth the money.
A good rule of thumb is you start getting real world benefits from a faster cpu if durring use you see the cpu hitting 50% usage and primarily only durring those instances. Gaming is another story as CPU speed, even in reserve, is always welcome.
The 180w Power supply is as, if not more, efficient as the original. Extra reserve power for the CPU and USB devices is always welcome. I can plug a USB Hard Drive in the right single slot without worrying about my power brick being limited. I can do that and recharge the battery and still not have to worry.
I have had NO issues with the QS chip as yet. 100% stability and no hickups or anything of the like. Would I have prefered an OEM chip, without a doubt! It is what it is and so far I'm fine with that.............. -
I am using 2.35 not sure what version you are using. -
I am useing the same got it all from the under volting guide
-
Same ..I got it from the undervolting guide ...and great report back about the "P9600" upgrade!
thanks -
Hey, just wondering what was the original load temp before undervolting the cpu, and what was the temp after? Just curious how far you can do it while maintaining stability.
-
Great post. Thanks TANWare.
-
-
now at 1.0750v from 1.1750v -
my 10x (2.66 ghz) is at 1.05v
my IDA, 10.5x (2.8 ghz) is at 1.1v -
Mine BSOD any lower ...than .100 from stock
from 59 to 54 useing Nvidia temp.mon.
RMClock says 47.6* now at lower V. -
each cpu is different... dont worry about it
-
And my power brick is cooler too... at room temperature to touch it
