Alright, for some reason, I can't post in the Marketplace, theres no New Thread button.
Probably have to do something in order to be able to post in there, but its 3AM and I'm dead tired and I couldn't find anything in the MarketPlace stickies about the requirement to post there. So I'm just going to post it here.
How much could I get for my P-7805u?
Specs are P8400 CPU (2.2ghz), 9800M GTS GPU, 1920x1200 17" display, 320GB HDD, 4GB RAM.
The thing was bought in January 2010 but physically its like new, I use an external keyboard and mouse, therefore I've only used the touchpad and on-board keyboard honestly about 3 times on rare occasions where I took my laptop with me to a hotel for a weekend. Other than that, I can't even remember the last time I closed the lid of my laptop or touched it physically other than the power key, it stays stationary and the only thing I touch on it is the power key lol.
Anyway, how much could I get for it?
Thinking of buying the Asus G73 from bestbuy, but don't exactly have $1200 cash, so need to see how much I could get out of this and than see how much I have to come up with overtop of it.
Thanks guys.
Sorry again about the misplacement of the thread.

The other day Amazon had two used 7805u's for $700. But you could try Craig's list and try for more. ( or Ebay).
In my book the 7805u is still a good gamer computer. I use it for high def video editing and website design. -
-
Yeah I would say around $600-700. The older fxs with the 8800m would probably go for around $500.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Im torn between sellingnow and buying the Asus G73 or waiting til sandy bridge releases.
If I wait til than my 7805u would probably be worth less, if I didnt wait i'd be mad at myself if sandy bridge is what its hyped up to be.
Cant sell it now and wait cause than I have no laptop lol.
Thinkin maybe I'll wait and see how much a decent Sandy Bridge based laptop is, and if its tkl expensive, the Asus will be cheaper than anyway to make up for getting less for mine haha.
What do you guys suggest doing? -
Sandy bridge is a significant improvement but you are likely going to have to wait awhile to get it exactly the way you want. I decided to recently go the M11x route since I would like a more portable option but now I have upgraded my 7805u to my main machine. It should arive tomorrow...
Good luck! It's a hard decision to make.

If anyone knows of someone that wants, or if you want my system yourself, PM me.
I cant seem to be able to start a new thread in Market Place for some reason? :-X -

Sand bridge is going to be insanely over-priced when it comes out. The difference in market value between the 7805 and a sandy-bridge will be huge. You have to ask yourself if the performance and 'cool factor' is worth it.
The tech industry are experts at exploiting the hype of new products.
Like those above have said, let us know what you get for it if you sell it. Best of luck! -
Ive got an offer off of craigslist for $600 but the dudes not from my state, and talks with the grammar of a 10year old, so not sure if its a scammer. -
What do you guys think of this email?
-
No pay, no ship. Money first, ship later.
Also, those people will fake a Paypal payment e-mail and send it to your account indicating that you've been paid. But when you log into Paypal and check payment history, you will see that there's none. I've had these scammers before, so beware. -

Good advice from TANWare and Mr. Man. The other thing to watch out for is the buyer sending you more money, by check or forged money order, than you asked for. They say you can send them the extra back with the computer or they say you can keep it for your trouble. Then the check or money order bounces and the bank comes after you.
-
Should I not even do that? What would happen if it was a hacked acc? -
Would it be alright than or could something come back and bite me in the ?
Also, I didn't put a price on the listing, I told everyone to email me with their maximum offer and whoever offered the most wins.
Currently I have an offers for $400, $550, and that email I posted above.
If he says its fine to do it the way I said, with spending the money the same day it clears, is it safe to do?
Thanks for all the help guys. -
The payment will clear but then PP has time to reverse/refuse the payment. The guy with the hacked account will stop as unauthorized then you are stuck when they take the funds back. The only way to be somewhat safe is to give time after clearing. Each type of payment has its time it can be reversed. Banks have up to 17 days to refuse a check then it can take time to get back to you. If the account is card based this time can go even further etc. Even if they go beyond that time go ahead and try to fight to get the money back, it is a long hard battle and if it brings your accounts to the negative try and fix your credit.
Personally there is no way I would even touch that transaction, They play on your greed so if it sounds too good to be true it usually is just that. Now YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED..................... -
What do you guys think about $600 with meeting and cash in hand? -
Too myself the $100 less is well worth the hastle free transaction, that is something you have to determine for yourself though. now for $200 that might be something I have too look at more carefully...............
Edit, I would not have lied, I would have been straight out, "sorry but I can not ship other than to the verified PayPal address after the payment has cleared etc.". If you are going to conduct business over the net conduct it with the same, if not even higher, ethics and care than you would in face to face transactions.............. -
As for your edit, he already confirmed he has a verified address. But he offered 1250 so I concluded that hes either a scammer or completely stupid. And I don't want my system to go to either of those because I took great care of it. So I lied instead of tellin em that lol -
A verified address could have been edited just days or even minutes ago. The fact he wants to have it shipped to a different address for his "son". Also a verified account could be someone elses account that has been hacked, it means nothing to you other than he is not just opeing an account just to scam you.
Also he wants the auction ended ASAP and paid and shipped right away is a clue too. Now if say he would have said the son had a P7805 that he dropped and needed one to put the old drive in, that might have been a bit more convincing as to the motives etc (IE; low hastle migration).
Doubt he is stupid if he has figured out what he needs to do to get your hardware to an address you would have no recourse in getting your hardware back.............. -
You wouldnt happen to need another P-7805u would ya TAN?! Would make a great Christmas present for someoneYou know you wanna! Haha.
-
All good here, I might consider a used quad variant of a P79xx though................
-
SemiGamer...Just noticed that the two on Amazon are now at $650.00 USD. Also noticed that they allow individuals to sell their computers through them. If you do a search on Amazon for Gateway P7805u you will see the computers listed. Click on the P7805u and then you will see the blurb about selling your computer with them on the right side of the page. Maybe that would be a safer way to sell it.
-
You guys think it would be smart to buy a $900 used G73 or just buy a new one at 1200?
