Sorry for necropost but Id like an answer to this.

It says you need to have a recent system and a very detailed BIOS and an OS that supports vidock. I dont know if I have any of those :/

It shouldn't cause any damage to the laptop.
But I would wait for the PE4H, released on Sep/11.

it's going to be on the HWtools website, you have to buy it from them, check the DIY vidock thread.

From memory I think it's $50, let me check.

Edit: yes it should be $50US but the price may change.

ok thanks, Now are we still going to have to figure out a way to power the GPU?

When I was reading the thread on this I got mixed opinons..

What im looking for is a mobile setup. than can use either just the expresscard slot and/or the wifi card slot.

i have to say that i think this will only work with external power to the gpu. i say this because not even my soundcard was fully powered up using only the expresscard and a gpu uses way more power then the soundcard.

yes it should only work with external power.

it's not really ment to be mobile.

Understandable. What Im getting at is if things are exposed on the bottom of the laptop.. (it looks like it might be that way, atleast in the pictures i saw) is it going to be easier (more like safer) to just cart around a desktop

actually for the PE4 you dont need to have anything exposed because you just plug it into the express port on the side of the notebook.

    it's exactly like the Vidock.
