What a drag...I recently bought a used P-7811FX from a in person seller and on my way to using and reformatting it found it doesn't have bluetooth but also that seller had the BIOS locked. I couldn't believe it why would they do something that bone head in the first place. I text that seller and they gave me the windows password and I said no that isn't the password I need the BIOS password. That seller had no idea what I was asking or didn't want to tell me the BIOS locked password. But I took at least 4-5 hours of searching and searching and did finally find a site and downloaded the program and brute force BIOS password and finally was able to get to and remove the password and be able to update the BIOS of which I was finally happy for. I never buy used laptop without asking first if it is BIOS locked or windows is locked that to me is a no sell if the seller can't remove or refuse to get rid of those before they sell the laptop then it's not worth my money or time. This sounds petty but does make a huge difference if you buy it and want to update the BIOS then your out of luck. It doesn't matter if you need to or not update the BIOS but when you need to make changes to the settings to work for your needs. Alot of users set password and then forget that is the biggest bone head thing to do lock the BIOS or HDD and don't remember or never write down the password thinking - Oh I well remember - my short answer is no you won't remember regardless how good your memory is you will forget it. That my advice for any buyers for Desktop/Laptop make sure the seller has no password protection on BIOS or HDD bios lock...otherwise have them in person when you make the purchase remove those "BoneHead" password before you buy it.

..or if this was stolen? How could the "user" not know the password unless that person was selling as third party? I'd pass. Search the BT module online.

Just for future reference, there is another way to reset the BIOS password, but unfortunately I don't think i'm allowed to tell you on the forum :/ it involves a battery of some kind ;)

I found it doing my search and got rid of the BIOS password. The seller as I mention didn't or couldn't help me on this matter and so I have do to my own finding to remove it. And I found the program took some looking that was free and removed the password. And now I can use and update the BIOS as needed.

Does no good to individual sellers but no it from my understanding not stolen item and I did wipe the BIOS password finally so that I can update the BIOS and make setting changes as needed. But no I am going on the premise of legit sale and that the seller needs to know that putting password BIOS and or HDD pswd makes a good computer just paper weight regardless of how much you think it is worth. I was lucky I didn't have to send it in or buy a ebay password to even begin to remove the password.

Seriously though, for personal use, who actually password protects the BIOS??? It just seems pointless
