what about 8800m??
-
-
too late for me right now but I will test it out first thing in the morning tomorrow.
-
I remember Nvidia saying that PhysX was going to be available to all 8 Series cards, not just the new ones. Don't let us down Nvidia
-
omg, if this works with 8800M GTS I gonna scream
-
-
-
so, any1 know yet if Physx works with 8800M GTS or not?
-
im testing that right now...i had to edit up an inf file...will let you know in about 30 minutes or so.
edit: nope, physX is not enabled on card
http://www.guru3d.com/news/nvidia-physx-quick-test/
they say it will cause a framerate drop using this option while playing games. -
You mean it is not enabled because of the software is not good yet or you mean because the G92M -despite of the G92- is physically not able to run it ? -
-
Ok I've just tried 177.35 display drivers (with lv2go modified inf) along with PhysX 8.06.12 drivers and both options are greyed out in the PhysX control panel.
On a side note if anyone wants to know how to install the latest drivers with the modified inf files on laptopvideo2go if you force driver installation through device manager and select 8800M GTX instead of GTS it installs perfectly. All the recent drivers had been giving me a "this is not a compatible version of Vista" error if I used the modified inf. -
Some new modded inf files for 177.39:
http://www.overclock.net/attachment...rce-177-39-physx-enabled-nv_disp_vista_32.zip
http://www.overclock.net/attachment...rce-177-39-physx-enabled-nv_disp_vista_64.zip
Going to test now... -
the above inf (32)doesn't have entry for 8800m
the 64 has it -
Oh really - I only checked 64-bit inf and it did have 8800M. Odd.
-
look at the files sizes
the 32 is either not modded or .... -
PhysX still not enabled using 64-bit inf anyway.
-
it cant be enabled through modding an inf file...we we're all hoping it could, but as of yet...seems that we are waiting for nvidia to release the actual files that will enable it.
-
hey anyone tried it with 32bit XP?
-
good call...maybe ill dual boot over and give it a shot...i noticed that the other drivers did clock well with xp, while desktop xp based systems still rank high in the over clock marks.

Looks like this has the potential to give quite a large boost in performance:

are those real benchmark of Unreal Tournament 3?
-
ok, the driver works great. after reworking some of the settings in the inf. was getting about p3500 and now getting close to 4k now
-
well how about sharing the inf with the rest of us ?
-
I tried the new 177.39 drivers on my 6860FX and was getting corrupted textures in Age Of Conan. 177.26 work fine. 177.39 are broken at least for AoC. Had to go back to 177.26
However on my desktop machine that has a 8800GTX the 177.39 drivers work fine.
Oh and the PhysX was greyed out for me on both 6860fx and desktopl. -
reason being...i tried the modded inf and my system kept crashing as well -
I used the modded inf that I posted and I haven't had any issues in UT3, CSS, TrackMania.
-
aight, cool
-
John...could you post your files for us "lesser" folks? I would like to try it on my 6860
-
this one has the 8800m added to the original
http://www.say-it-loud.com/nv_disp_17739.inf -
So, let me ask...
Will the PhysX work with the 177.39 drivers? or any drivers for our GPU (M8800GTS)?
Or are we waiting on Nvidia to release code to activate it?
Thanks for clearing up my Q's. -
we are waiting on nivida to release code to activate it or someone to snag the files that will activate it. so to speak. and call it a pre realease or beta "stolen software" "cough" lol
-
jhon from looking at the inf you posted its x86, right ?
more over it doesn't look to include all the usual info that the laptop2go drivers include, so basically you just added 2 lines to support our 8800m gts (0609.1)? -
yep, exactly...i added the nv_3x stuff the first time, but found that i didn't need it. so took it out.
so yep, just two lines to support our card and that's it. -
John: Will that inf work for XP 32-bit? Everytime I try to install it tells me the drivers I am trying to install are for vista even though I have the XP ones. I renamed the INF you posted to nv4_disp.inf and overwrote the one that came with the driver, is this the correct method?
Thanks man. -
that is the 32 bit vista version and shouldn't work for xp....
-
According to the German Website it will take several weeks before Nvidia will come up with drivers that will support the 8 and 9 series cards. As long as they do come out with them I will be happy
-
John:
Any chance you can mod an inf for XP 32-bit? -
This is accoring to the German Website. This guy basically says that these drivers and inf files work flawlessly for his 8800GTS:
EDIT.. Let's try those links again:
Downloads:
GF 177.39:
Vista x64: http://www.vaguetech.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=236
Vista x86: http://www.vaguetech.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=233

XP 32: http://www.vaguetech.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=231
This is the modded inf file: http://www.vaguetech.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=235
NVIDIA PhysX v8.06.12: http://www.vaguetech.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=234
The links should work now, -
yeah, none of them links work.
-
-
And as I mentioned in prior post...the textures in Age of Conan were messed up and the PhysX option was greyed out on my 6860FX.
I would advice not using these drivers.
The 177.26 from Laptopvideo2go work fine on my 6860FX. -
please note that the above inf is for the 177.35
laptop2go didn't release an inf for the 177.39 -
-
i got yours but didn't get to play with it yet
bit lazy with it as the only(???) benefit is the vantage score which i don't have installed. -
nope, that's a big 10-4 negative! you should notice something right off the bat just running 3dmark06. dont do the whole test..just do the first 2 graphics and check the frames against your other driver test....what? you think i run the whole program every time? lol. nope not untill i see that they might improve with a few tweaks then i start running full test.
-
i use the 177.35 and its good beside that silly down clock on batteries (which i dont care about as i dont game on batteries).
but if you say the 177.39 is a real advantage i will do the effort -
i like it alot roy...seems to be pretty stable. down clocks when it's suppose to, speeds up when it's suppose to. gpu can get as low as 41c just idling. plays right on battery power.... all the things we are looking for. and when physx is enabled...we should be sitting right with the 8800m gts gaming world.
PhysX acceleration coming to G92 gpus
