My neighbor gave me his MT6707 notebook to try and resolve a problem he has trying to get into Vista. Apparently Vista was constantly locking up so he ran a system restore to an old date but still had the problem. He then tried using Gateway's system recovery program to fix the problem. The program rebooted after reinstalling then would not go to Vista at all. It stops with a selection of either running recovery again or try starting windows normally. Neither selection does anything but sits with "please wait" on the screen for hours. He had a Vista operating system disk that came with the notebook so I thought I would try to format and reinstall the OS (He wants a clean install if possible). Booting from this disk goes right to the "install now" screen then hangs on "please wait" for hours. Is there any way I can format the hard drive so I can do a clean install off this disk?

I am having what seems like a very similar problem with my MT6707. I have had it back to Bestbuy 3 times and into Gateway once. They are sending me a replacement system - but I am not optimistic.

    Did you ever make progress?
