I have the M-152XL,and I am not able to watch the instant movies on Netflix. The video will start to play, but all I get is alot of backround noise, and can't hear any of the actors in the movie, just the music. At first I thought maybe it was the video that was havig the problem, but it plays fine on my desktop. Anyone know what's wrong?

I bet it is more of a browers/plugins problem then a problem with the notebook itself. What brower are you using? Did you do a clean install of vista on your notebook or is it factory stock?

well i dont live in the states so never used a netfix dvd, anyway what does the browser got to do with playing dvd ?

what program you use for playing the dvd ? check your sound options, if the dvd is 5.1 / 7.1 Dolby Digital etc and you play only using 2 channels you might miss out a lot. so just make sure the dvd playing software settings is right for your hardware (2 channel stereo).

    only thoughts, no facts.

it sounds like your notebook is missing some sort of codec, but since i have never used netflix instant movie...i really dont know for sure. can u ask netflix customer support?

you should also try using FireFox 3. Its a better browser and it might work.

    oh i c
also install vlc media player, while running the install, it has an option to add a browser plugin, so that will play any media file on earth (well almost ;) )

why would you need a clean install ?

if you do decide u need, make sure you create a driver backup dvd from the gateway recovery center, then just put in a windows dvd and boot from it.

(clean install mean formatting your hdd and reinstalling windows from scratch)

ya i wouldnt recommend a clean install since you will lose all your data. I was only asking for if you already did one so we would know whats up with your computer.

I suggest downloading firefox 3 and VLC player.

I believe that you have to use their player choice to stream the movie, otherwise it could be copied while being played. Also I believe that firefox is Netflix preferred browser, so maybe you'll have better luck playing it if you use firefox. It's a better browser anyways.
