So I've had my Gateway MT6705 laptop for about two days and and the left mouse button already does not work anymore. And addition to that, I was trying to find out how to use the laptop while it's plugged into the AC and I wasn't doing it right so the laptop froze on multiple occasions which prompted me to manually shut it off. Which, from what I've heard, seems like it's bad for your computer. I eventually figured out that problem but I'm afraid I might have done something to the computer by doing so as it freezes sometimes and does the crash boot thing.
I called Geek Squad and they said to just send it in and get a new one but I don't think this laptop is that bad that it needs to be totally replaced. Then again, what do I know. Normally I would but I ordered it online and I'm not really sold on sending it in for a new one as I need it urgently for a school project and I am dead in the water without it for an extended period of time.
What I'm really trying to find out is if it's possible for me to just bring it in to a local computer repair shop and see if there's anything they can do for it?

You can take it to a local computer repair shop, that wouldn't hurt.
When you said you figured ou the problem, what exactly was it that prevented you from using the laptop on AC power?
There really isn't a wrong way to use your computer while it's plugged in. You just plug it in and use it. -
I was trying to plug it in while the battery plan was set to "Power Saver" and I needed it on "High Performance" to be able to plug it in. I think I will shell a little bit of money out and bring it in and have them replace the mouse button and check it.

You shouldn't need it on "High Performance" to plug it in.

I'm using Vista Home Premium, if that helps. Actually, someone I know who also uses Vista on his home PC suggested to do that. I'm really tight on money right now, so I'm pondering just getting a wireless mouse until my school project is out of the way and I have more money saved to send it in to a repair shop.
