I just got this computer and i love it but when i go to play games (aoe3) with the powercoard unplugged my processor speed dropps to like around 700mzh-1ghz and it really laggs and makes the game unplayable
My computer runs at 2.6ghz with the coard pulgged in and the game works fine will all the settings high.

I have downloaded and use Speedswitch 1.4 and i have it set to AC:Max Proformence and DC: Max Proformance. no matter what i set the DC setting to my processor slows way down. (do i have to uninstall any programs to make it work properally?)

How can i get my processor to run at 2.6ghz without the powercoard being plugged in?

    Thanks

Try going to the power option in control panel and setting it to always on power config. The max performance configuration is misleading and still undeclocks the cpu in some cases.

The AMD is supposed to only work under "max battery" and "portable/laptop" under power options. You are doing something else under "max performance" (probably changing your display adapter settings). Try the "always on" like the guy above said and you should be in good shape.

If you haven't already you may want to go to the Gateway site and get the new drivers. Once of them is for the processor.

Now that you have the proper PowerNow! driver, set your power profile back to "Portable/Laptop". The CPU should then powerthottle as needed.

I think the 7515 has the 3700+ (which is max 2.4GHz). Maybe I am wrong though.

No, the 7515 has the 4000+.

You can't really have it both ways, either it will throttle down or not.

To see your speed go to "My Computer" and then "View System Information" on the left-hand side and it will say the processor type and speed at the bottom.

Also, note that the processor can throttle faster and slower a lot. You can check your speed three times in a row and you may get a different speed... usually slow, medium, and full-out settings.

    ***Edit*** Yep, sorry, typo: 7515.

Yes, the 7525 has the 4000+, but he has the 7515.. or is that a typo?
Also, I would recomend SpeedSwitch XP. You can have a little icon in the task bar to show clock speed and CPU utilization. It does change quite rapidly.

Haha, okay. I told you to get SpeedSwitch to prove to you that the computer is using it's power, it is just trying to conserve energy at the same time. I always reference "PowerNow!" to GM's DOD (displacement on demand -- for engines). Then again, everything is about cars for me :D
Also, if you have speedswitch, I believe you can change the power scheme to "max performance" which will constantly run the processor at 2.6GHz.
