    What is the difference between the normal program files and program file x86? :eek: :confused:

    the program files folder on 64 bit vista are the programs designed to run on a 64 bit system. the program files (x86) folder are the 32 bit applications that you have installed on the 64 bit system.

    Without realizing I've been saving programs that are 64-bit versions in the x86 folder, that doesn't actually have any bearing on the actual performance of the program though, right?

    it shouldnt. it was all just used to distinguish which of your programs are actually coded for 64 bit versus which ones arent.
