    Pulp,

I noticed in another thread that you said you work at Best Buy. and since you've been pretty helpfull before I thought maybe you could help me out again.
I've got my 7510gx, and I have absolutely no regrets about the purchase. However, I do have 2 frozen pixels, and as they were not really a problem at first, they are starting to annoy me more and more every day.
I purchased the BB extended warranty, and I am thinking about taking it in, since the guy at the store pursuaded me into buying it (the warranty) because of the more forgiving policy with dead pixels. My worry at this point is the difficulty in finding these machines. It took me a week to find a store that was willing to get me the one I currently have, and that was over a month ago. I really don't want to switch to a different machine, and I can't really live without this thing for a along period of time, since I use it for school.

What are my options going to be? I just want to go into the store knowing what some of the possibilities are...

    Thanx Again!!!

they arent gonna ditch the machine, they will send it thru them to gateway and gateway will fix... pixels are repairable..... i had a cracked hinge on my laptop and they put a whole NEW screen on it... protective plastic still on and all... so ask the geek squad.. oh and PULP, i searched RSS and we have several stores in our district with a few of those 7510s that you so love hanging around. But then again im in the upstate of South carolina. LOL... Hopefully my emachines 6810 will be junk out soon enough and i can pick one up... but then again with the amount of video editing i do the 4000+ might actually be the way to go. Iv got a 9600 in this thing and its not less than my needs. I printed some stats from toolkit on the two models today, i could get one from the store about 15 mins away if i wanted a 7510... it all depends on when i get this baby junked out lol

    Man, you guys love me.

The 7510GX may still be available in South Carolina, but I work in Northern California, and it's frigging GONE.

Odds are they're going to "DEVO" your notebook, in which case, they're going to let/make you get a new one. The problem is there really isn't a "new one" that's as good as that one. If you bring in the notebook and it's deemed serviceable by Gateway (since you're still in the manufacturer's warranty period), it'll be two to three weeks to get it repaired. But odds are they won't.

My advice is, if the pixels aren't bothering you too much, wait for the next refresh of the 7500 series. This is ENTIRELY speculation, but I suspect at some point it's going to become available with a Mobility Radeon X700. That's part of the reason I hedged my bets with getting a 7510GX again instead of a different model when I brought my last one in: if it doesn't fail, my computer is awesome. If it DOES fail, I'll probably be able to replace it with the refresh.

Gateway is all service, not Devo unless a mgr lets you or something....but its under service in the computer.. and more like 10-14 days at service if sent off.. when mine went to mfg it was only 7 days

I'm not sure how much of this we're actually supposed to be discussing publicly, but the Gateway'll probably go DEVO just because it's cheaper to replace the bloody thing than fix it. That's what happened when mine got the flicker bug, and I know for a fact that's an easy repair for Gateway to do.

Wow, that sucks. There's nothing in the stores that even comes close the the performance at that price. What are the chances they'd give me cash back on it to take it and deal with it?
