I replaced my first 7811 because of ghosting on the screen. Now I wish I would have kept it. My new one has a fan that pulsates like it can't decide between speeds. My new power supply buzzs at times. And the new screen has ghosting I can't rub out in a big line right down the middle. If they didn't perform so well for the price I think I'd look elsewhere.

How many of you have 7811s without screen defects, fan problems, buzzing power supplies and/or overheating? I love the 7811 and I'm really hoping to find a "perfect one". I guess I should be happy that both so far have had no dead pixels and they have been rock solid. I've left games running all night and I've never seen the 7811 get hot or lock up.

Trackmania and Fear. No cooler or elevation just on a desk. I tried leaving Crysis runing but it goes back to the menu after a few minutes of inactivity.

no ghosting, buzzing, dead pixels, no overheating here. The fan will do that one second thing when the computer starts to get hot. but for instance, right now it's just on low and not noticeable. I've been running the notebook non-stop for the last two weeks and i've not had a problem with it.

The pulsing fan is normal. When the GPU reaches above 40C, it starts cooling it down slowly.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it. It's a very nice laptop, and while i don't really use it as a gaming machine it also fits the multi-media content creation bill quite well.

so when that fan kicks on at the left side of the keyboard at random times, its normal? keeps scaring the bejeezus out of me when it does that high rpm kick start.

...btw, just bought the orange beast last night and you're right, the orange 'accent' isnt so bad.
