The Q9100 will work with 7811fx with version 28 bios installed correct? If so should i buy a Q9100 ES?
-
link to chip please
-
If it is Socket 775 then it won't work.
-
if so, that bios will NOT work with the 7811, as it was designed for the 6831/6860 laptops.

I can get QX9300 FOR $750 but the q9100 might be a better buy since we don't have the sliders in bios. -
and for the second part, we may not have sliders in the bios......yet. -
He says the X9100 is better than Q9100...I should just buy that dang QX9300!
"Dear Sir, yes only for PM45、GM45, But few machine support , We all tested , if is your machine not support, you could resell, Actually, I suggest X9100 is Better than Q9100, It's almost compatiable at GM45、PM45's platform, Q9100、Q9200、Q9300 only few machine support! You need confirm! Thanks" -
x9100 - dual core 3.06
q9100 - quad core 2.26
ill take the...one that fits my needs at the time, not my erection. -
-
Just buy the Qx9300 so we know it works and you can put it in your sig for bragging rights
.
-
first of all...
where is this guy and his chips?
does he really have them?
are they es version?
never heard of a q9200
a quad is always going to be better for multi-threaded applications
the qx9300 is 260 mhz faster than the q9100.
quad anything you can't go wrong.
and like the man up above said.....
sho me the link...*LOL* -
meh honestly 4 cores will just make windows actually multitask instead of the **** jump jump jump thing it does while it tries to keep up with me! WTB MOAR CORES! have 3 turn off when i use the lappy from the battery
!! woot woot.

-
Well i bought the Q9100 ...If it don't work i'll list it on ebay since there is none i should beable to sell it fast!
-
very nice, i think q9100 will work just fine on any montevina chipset.
i apologize for my previous post, didnt realize its just an engineer' sample.
u know, $450 is only half of the price of oem q9100 . -
Yes $851 for Q9100 and $1038 for QX9300...Which i am not paying! I'll be fine with an ES. it's inbound so i expect Mon-Tues. -

people are getting confused about what an "es chip" is all about.
it is the chip intel sends out to have people test the limits on. the chip that intel says.."ok, here is our best, now go and try to break it" you break that one, they come out with the revised version. till the get to the end resulted chip. the one that has no es markings on it, but only in the chips makeup. the chip that will be branded as a "retail chip" once final results are in. so never be scared to use the "es" model (extreme chips only) especially if it's the last in it's stage of evolution before going retail. -
Yes johnksss, but it's still something to be wary about... because you don't know which ES model you're getting, if it's one of the last or one of the first. You don't know how many revisions and mistakes your ES model will have and how many revisions happened since that one. And you also don't know how much abuse it has taken, how many times it's overheated, been pushed to the limits, etc....
I'm not saying it's a bad buy, I mean an unlocked processor for ~$400 that some have been buying is awesome, but everyone should be aware of the pro's and con's of buying an ES chip compared to a retail chip. -
as many people running around here talking about heat issues with a retail chip??? *LMAO* to funny. and when you buy "ES" you already know what your up against. and those samples come in 5 forms including but not limited to "ES"
retail
MFS
ES
AS
and one other one.
going along with pros and cons also goes with know what samples are out as well. -
-
but it will show up when you run any windows cpu id software. it reads the internal markings or what's embedded in the code.
these chips are like 850 bucks and up for a retail chip -
I can't wait to see how well this works out. I wish you the best.
-
this could actually be the scale tipper the fx needed.
-
I'm also very interested in the outcome to say the least. Please keep us up to date.
-
i'll watch as well
-
Me too.
(What are we watching?) -
the first quad chip to hit the 7811. thanks to the bios efforts of one E-Wrecked & the trial recipient of the first quad, mr bmw135i.
-
im watching too!....not in a creepy way
-
So did it work?
-
from what i have been watching, not creepily, he will not recieve it till tom or tuesday.
-
-
lol
the great narsnail has returned! hey..i put as5 on my norhtbridge and it works fine and dandy...but that as5 cant be over lapping on to the green parts of the chip like frosting... -
lol and thats my problem.....it got ALL over that chip and i got most of it off. but I still need a thermal pad, i will get one this week.
-
-
EDIT: I will not use aluminum foil, regardless. -
Yea. Definitely good to see ya back, nars!
-
that gap on the 6860 is not that big. really, it's not a gap at all, but the pad is used to not get thermal compound on the little chips.
good idea on the pads. will get some also. just to have a back up plan.
tzs0 temp chillin at 40 right now. with rightmark running.
went as high as 80 with our rightmark off and running 3 copies of orthos.
while on seemed to stay between 65-71 and tzs1 got up to 80 -
tzs0 ever hit 98? even before?
EDIT: Ok..gone for a bit. Applying AS5 with hopes of success. -
we are now talking abut two different laptops.
my 7811 did, but when i ran rightmark & lifted the back, it stayed below if i didn't do a crazy memory over clock, it stay below as well. -
-
i cant find any stores around here that carry thermal pads, and im not ebaying one, that will take too long. the search continues..
-
E and others, ya'll have had the HSF's off of these laptops, do you remember if mating surfaces were all copper or plated? Thanx!!!
-
-
Yeah, was thinking about lapping, maybe when I did a processor upgrade! Actually, have that new liquid hs compound, looks like mercury, but it eats up coatings like alum or solder.
-
My heatsink is not smooth..it has burs or dings ! Where can i get an extra heatsink?
-
but, i do know that there are supposed to be two little L shape rises on the heatsink opposite corners from each other. -
