    HELLO

    I ran a search on "7811fx 2nd hdd" and didn't find much...

Long story short: I tracked my fedex delivery of my p-7811fx and it's due friday---yep friday the 13th...

I already have adding bt module handled but I have another question...

I have decided to add a second hdd and I'm leaning to a 7200 rpm 320... Is there a brand or two that work best with the 7811 ??? Are there any brands to avoid ??? Thanks...

I would recomend just getting another 200gb 7200rpm seagate momentus and put them in a RAID0 array if you can survive without the xtra 120gb. It will give you 400gb of xtra fast hard drive space rather that one slow 200gb drive and a kind of faster 320gb drive. not to mention will be cheaper. unless u eventually plan on RAIDing two 320's... Me? i went with a 64gb SSD for OS and app drive and will use my 200gigger for storage...

Aren't WDs supposed to run cooler than Seagates? Would you run into problems if you use 2 different brands with the same speed?

Also, nice set up. I would also love an SSD, but I have more than 64 gigs of applications if you count Vista. I'll have to wait for SSD prices to go down a little so I can get like a 120gb drive.

Yeah for RAID you can basicly use 2 or more of any drive combo really but each factor of the array will be determined by the lowest common denominator.

    Ex: RAID0 drive A=80gb 7200rpm and drive B=500gb 5400rpm:
drive A would be seen as an 80gb 5400rpm and drive B would be seen as an 80gb 5400rpm giving your RAID0 array 160gb's of 5400rpm (err maybe 10k rpm depending how you want to interperet the benefits of RAID0) speed.

Different brands with same specs shouldn't matter but for me i would just go with identical drives to be safe...

V-lite + Knowing what you can delete = Vista under 5 GB while still retaining full functionality and all the features.

SSDs are the way to go, I'm waiting for my 5th one to arrive :D

Just checked the price on the latest Solid series I ordered, I got it for $95 and now it's $170. It's all about keeping an eye on the prices and buying when the time is right. SSD prices will continue to drop as newer ones are released, but by that time you'll want the newer one since it will be faster anyways..

120/128 GB SSDs have been around the same price for a couple weeks now, keep an eye on the prices because I have a feeling they are going to drop soon.

PS: Seagate 500 GB 7200 RPM drives just came out

And you should never ever run RAID 0 on drives of different speeds because then it will make both drives both have the same speed. Basically it will be even slower than before.
