I have a P-7811FX with T9600 will I get better improvements going to a x9100 processor? I am thinking of buying a another P-7805FX and doing the same thing to it as well. I have a P-6860FX with T9300 is that the highest processor I can stick in it? Money can be considered but want to know the options first?

The x9100 will give better performance but the E0's are hard to find. C0 versions are out there but you probably will not get as high an overclock with reasonable temps. I think with the older 800 FSB you are limited to the x9000 on the p6860.

The link for the first one also says C0 stepping?? I don't see the link to Stepping as you mentioned? Ok I think I found it was on the side links....from some on eBay but it listed 3 other specs with it...

They can't be all one code...really confusing...

Yes it can be confusing. Nothing I found in my short search came up with an E0 stepping for sale. As I said rare as hens teeth anymore.

yeah...stinks..so would my T9600 currently be more then suffice for my P-78 needs? And if I can't get a X9100 E0 then what would be the closet I can get without breaking the bank?

You know StormJumber, I think our P-78's are probably nearing the end of their life. The capacitors are aging and will die soon anyway. Just thank our lucky stars that this little gem of a laptop has lasted so long. I will continue to use it until it finally croaks but not spend any money updating it with newer CPU's. For those watching this thread and have that laptop, you should at least update to win 7 64 for smoother performance especially if doing any video editing.

Actually already done that...Windows 7x64 Ult Sp1 and Office 2013 Pro Plus with T9600 and 8gigs RAM with Vista x64 drivers and Intel wifi Drivers and it runs like a Mustang.....I done reapply Thermal paste and cleaned out the dust bunnies that in itself will prolong it's life span.

    Massive grammar fail.

...my new rig died a dishonorable death. I have an E0 with a fan directly on it (plastic covering gone... amongst a screen and other things...) running 4ghz @ 1.5v. GTA IV & BF4 are STILL cpu limited. (BF4 unplayable). Max temp is 103c, 105c is shutdown.

I would like to mention that my new rig died after 3 months (r9 280x), but my p-7805u has lasted me half a decade with ZERO problems.

If you are cpu limited and want to keep this laptop, get a x9100 (not mine). Though if you game (how else would you be cpu limited?), you will most likely still be cpu limited regardless of what cpu you buy.

Really...so is that all the best you can do is nitpick on someone grammar? If that is all you can do-maybe you need to delete your account and get off the net, I would rather have helpful replies then back wood thinking. And why should I follow your advice when you crashed and burned your system. Yeah, like I am going to follow that route. Telling someone to get a CPU and not getting one yourself has about much value as a toilet flush.

If you are not planing to overclocking the CPU, than you should buy T9900 SLGEE (E0) stepping. That cpu share the same specifications as X9100, BUT, it has lower TDP (35W) and it does not have unlocked multiplier.

Off Topic: my 333MHz post! :D

I will look into that when my budget allows me to do so in the future here.

My replacement video card for my desktop arrives today.

I'm willing to sell my x9100 E0 revision for $75 + shipping to anyone interested.

I still have the original processor that came with this computer and I will just stick it back in; I probably won't use this computer much more anyways besides for basic web browsing (if that).

I'm thinking someone else could make the x9100 useful as it's overkill for web browsing.

I'm also thinking about selling the 1920x1200 display. I haven't used it in months since I always hook this up to a monitor.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

    Edit: CPU-Z screenshot attached.
