I currently have the stock 6860.

I'm looking to spruce it up a bit.

First question: Can I upgrade the RAM for 4 gigs to 8 gigs? I think I remember seeing that the mobo can only recognize 4.

Second question: I know I can safely put the t9500 processor in, but I'd rather just slap in an X9100 :) .... How is the heat output? And what is the difference between this one....

    Intel Core 2 DUO Extreme Mobile 3.06 GHz X9100 SLB48 - eBay (item 180527235175 end time Jul-30-10 01:47:30 PDT)

    and these two...

    Intel® Core?2 Duo X9100 3.06Ghz OEM SLB48 - eBay (item 130399862510 end time Jul-12-10 04:49:53 PDT)

New Intel CORE2 X9100 QHBQ Super low Temp! - eBay (item 250657950647 end time Jul-28-10 04:46:32 PDT)

Besides the enormous price gap :D

8gigs of RAM is possible... though usually a waste of money unless you actually use more than 4GB of RAM (most useres dont)

You cannot use the X9100, you can however use the X9000 (i have one in mine)

The heat is more than say a t9300, but its nothing major. Mine idles around 40degrees and even overclocked to 3.8gHz hasnt went over 88degrees

Thanks. I may stick with the t9300, as I only see one X9000 on eBay for $600!!

Is there a certain type of RAM I should get? I am going for 8 gig, because I like to push the gaming envelope so to speak.

8gigs isnt going to push any real game envelope... its just not used by anything except things that require massive amounts of memory (photoshop, maya, etc) Gaming will have minimal if any benefits from the extra 4gigs of RAM.
