Probably a silly question for some of you experts. My Gateway laptop got attacked pretty hard last night and I was left with no choice but to reinstall the OS (Vista). I'm slowly getting things back up and running but one thing is driving me nuts. On the touchpad, I can no longer use the right side to scroll on a page. I have to go to the side of the page and drag the slider. Anyone know how to get this function back? Thanks!

Download the synaptic driver from the gateway website for your model.

I did that. Still no dice. There's got to be some scrolling option I can't find. For instance, I had it set up so the cursor would default to the "yes" or "continue" position automatically. Can't remember how I did that either.

Oh, um. If you already have the Synaptics driver installed just go to Mouse in the Control Panel then Device Settings. Highlight the Synaptics pointing device then go to settings, it should be in there. I don't know exactly where it is from there because I use the generic driver but I remember the setting is definitely in there.

Got the auto point thing working. Still no go on the scrolling with the touchpad.

You don't have the settings for it where I stated? It may be in a drop down menu, there was a check box to enable it I think and there was also an area you could drag to determine the scrolling area on a graph of the touchpad.

Went directly to Synaptics website and downloaded the driver there. The one Gateway had didn't have the touchpad options we've talked about. Problem solved for any others that run into this.
