Hey all, I have a question about the RAM on my Gateway 7510 GX. I read that it can be upgraded from 1GB to 1.5GB, but im not sure if the ram is configured as 1x1GB and another slot, or both slots taken up with 2x512 MB. If the latter case is true, that would mean i would have to buy a 1GB stick of RAM and replace a 512 MB stick?

Also, is the video card upgradeable? I wouldent imagine so, but just checking to make sure.

I guess if you bought your lappy with that amount of RAM (1GIG) it will almost sure be 2x512. So if you want to upgrade to 1.5GIG you will have to purchase a 1GIG stick and replace one of the 512MB sticks (there will be one slot accesable the other stick will be under the keyboard somewhere and very difficult to get to). And about the V-Card I guess not, youre most probaly stuck with the one yuo have.

Thanks, think ill take a look and see if I can find the easily accessable slot tomorrow. Another Q - would I be able to put a sound card in it? Ive been eyeing the new Soundblaster XI-FI, and wondering if i would be able to use that, and if so, will that, in any way shape or form, improve performance? with an onboard audio card that the 7510 GX has, im wondering if that uses resources more than if I had a soundblaster in there...

Yes if you have a PCM slot you will be able to use such audio-cards and it should give you some better performance because your cpu will not have to do the job. How much more performance it will be? I wouldn't know because I never did that before.

I have a 7510GX and it is 2x512. So you will for sure need a 1 gig stick.
