Ok gents, I bought my 7811FX brand new when they first come out. Mine is still running strong, but wondering if anyone has had any major issues with theres? Im using mine as a media center these days, and the wife loves it.

Have had my 7811 for about 2 1/2 years, bought it from a user of this forum and it's still running strong, not one issue.
I open it up every few months to clean out dust and I have replaced the thermal paste once with ICD7 (when I changed the processor)
Good machines these are, to bad that they have not made a new series.

Love my 7811 still. Had problems when It came with vista especially with graphics being choppy. Now with win 7 64 and modded graphics driver 263.9 (best driver imo) and 8gb of ram this thing is absolutely perfect.

There were a lot of them that had issues ( see this link), but I think if you got a good mobo you'd escape that dire fate. I sold mine to another nbr member and it was in great shape when I sold it. I did have the screen cable issue, but replacing the cable resolved that for good. I also had some hiccups with a few versions of flash. Never really did figure that one out, but I think it just went away with newer versions of flash.

The original hard drive died. No big deal it was under warranty.

If I had kept it I am sure I would have done some upgrades. My current laptop was much more of an upgrade though :) I just miss that beautiful 1200p screen resolution...

Well this guy was experiencing the 2D-3D memory timing issue, not heat related. This is evident with the first board only doing 70c then the problem with the second board and the non graphical demanding game. 95% of the time turning powermizer off clears this up. Agreed though there are cases this doesn't clear up the issue.

I also agree the 1200P screen is awesome and why I have spent quite a bit more upgrading than the system is really worth. The x9100 is a snappier CPU for general use the q9200 is better future proofing for multithreading brute force. The 260m GTX is better as well but now where up to recent cards.

I am one of those that when the reign of this system is over a desktop will be required to keep me in the 1200P or greater resolution game. Either that or a laptop with with the capability to drive a high resolution external well beyond 1200P. If I have to run an external monitor may as well get a dual-dvi type high end one (or the prevailing interface to high res).
