Hey all. Im looking to buy a gaming laptop. I really enjoy gateway and what they offer, so I'm wondering if they are making a new FX any time soon. Thanks all.

Yeah, there are new model(s), but they're only in Canada

They'll probably be in the states by Christmas. There's a couple threads on them.

I doubt they will wait until xmas most americans start shopping long before december. Many manuafacturers are coming out with new models when windows 7 comes out. I've been shopping around hard and have come to the conclusion that now is a pretty bad time to buy something new because when these new models come out most will probably have newer components then whats currently available, maybe even new gpus and i7 mobile processors. See whats available towards the end of october you might be glad you waited.

I would not buy a FX laptop until the models with the 260m come out. The performance of the other models hasn't improved significantly in almost 2 years while the 260 will add alot more gaming power. The Asus at bestbuy has a 260 and cost around the same as the FX models and is only a 15" but nearly everyone has reported the gpu running at or close to 90*c and that alone scares me.

Dont expect miracles from the 260m either, its still the same core we've all be using since the 8800m days. It will give a slight improvement over the 9800m's but nothing that will be mind blowing.

Personally i would rather have the 260gts (as its an actual new core architecture) in the new FX due to it giving nearly identical performance to the gtx and running at almost half the power.
