I noticed that Gateway also put a newer version of the P-6860fx system BIOS on their web site (94.28). I know the general advice is "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" but I couldn't find a changelog showing what support was added, or if anything was fixed.

Does anyone know what Gateway did to improve the BIOS?

Have any 6860 owners tried updating? If so, were you able to do so without having to re-install Vista? I'm particularly interested in the experience of those of you who are running RAID arrays.

The latest bios is version 94.29, you might need to contact customer support if you want it. It's what whas shipped on the latest 6860's. There is no need to reinstall the OS when updating the Bios as it doesn't effect the data on the HDD's.

I don't know about the changelog thing, but I would love to know the differences.

Yes indeed, in fact I have 94.29 on my computer. I've been periodically scanning the Gateway page for BIOS updates and assumed that since they just recently added it, it was an updated version. Odd that they would post the original BIOS, but not the updated version, and do so only after the model had been discontinued.
