Hello,
Just few questions about X9000, X9100 and QX9300
What sentences is right:
1) The X9000 and QX9300 can be overclocked to 3.0Ghz so the X9100 can't because the maximum limit for the motherboard or something else is 3.0Ghz
or
2) No Extreme edition can be overclocked by changing the unlocked multiplier?

Actually with the 78xx models its kinda a bum deal. I dont believe the OC was even allowed because they made them exclusively for dual core CPU's and the x9100 already ran at 3.06 so they never allowed OC in the BIOS
I'm not even sure 7808 with a qx9300 can OC
Altuniay even put the x9000 in a 78xx model and it was limited to its basic 2.8gHz because the unlocked multipliers wasnt available in the BIOS. -
Ok.
I found an interesting thing BTW.
The BIOS for P68XX AND P7811 called Godzilla 94.31 can be downloaded on the support gateway.
I've opened the bios with Phoenix Bios Editor and i seen that on advanced bios screen you have "extreme processor" with 2.8, 3.0, 3.2, 3.4 and 3.6ghz in a "select" combo.
Can you confirm to me that people on P68xx can overclock their EXTREME cpu intel ??
If it's true, P7811 FX user can flash their bios and can overclock the extreme cpu in the bios. -
Bios is Godzilla 94.28 sorry.

Yeah in the 68xx models we can OC the CPU. but are limited to 3.0gHz (have mine running there all the time)
Even having the "options" for 3.2+ no one has ever been able to actually unlock that option as i believe its somehow hardware limited, because we were able to make it "say" 3.2gHz but the BIOS would never actually allow that multiplier to be accessed -
Can you choose 3.2 ghz option and it does not work or 3.2 ghz option is "locked" ?
Because if it locked, i have to check tonight or tomorrow at home, i remember that 3.0gHZ was the "ticked" choice in the bios.
So if it's right, i can mod i think the bios to choose 3.2+ by default choice. -

I think it just didnt work as an option. John was able to get the 3.2 ticked i think but while the system saw the CPU like it read 3.2 the cpu itself never actually clocked there because of some other limitation.
But hey give it a try, it would be great to get 3.2-3.4gHz out of an x9000. Mine runs at 32/34 degrees 24/7 at 3.0gHz so i'm thinking i have alot of thermal load left and could probably reach 3.4 before any issue is ran into thermally
But 14-16 months ago we were all trying this and it never would work for us... but we also didnt know exactly how to compile BIOS or use a hex editor to make them work. We were just playing around with the Pheonix BIOS program -
Damn :/ that's sux
-
Hum can you make this test for me with your X9000 ?
Download CrystalCPUUid.
Then on "intel step technology" (under 3th menu), you can change voltage or the multiplier. The locked multiplier have a cross (x) before the value.
Can you confirm to me that:
1) The multiplier x15 (for 3.0Ghz) is OK
2) The multiplier x16 (for 3.2Ghz) is KO (cross X).
If yes, i think we have to modify BIODCODX.ROM (where X = 3 to 5) because there are ACPI tables ROM.
Thanks a lot ! -

I would be happy to but it will be about 8 days before i can get to my computer (i'm at work in the middle of the ocean right now)
BUt there are a few other people with X series that should be able to help that come around the forums (if you cant wait until i get back home) -
Yep i need a man with an X9000 and NOT a P78xx
-
94.28 is the best respect .17 x64 bios?
-
Sorry i do not understand your sentences about "the best respect".
94.28 was a bios designed for P68xx series + P7811 fx.
It's not the P78 9C.17 bios
