If i buy one now off of best buy, how likely would it be that i receive an 88 one? Also it seems that this version has been discontinued why is that? also, could the gpu power games on a 24 inch monitor? and finally could i hook up my z-5500 5.1 speakers to the laptop?

The outside of the box displays the serial number, so just make sure you check that its a 2888 version if you really care that much. If it's been discontinued, it might be because of the new Gateway found on Newegg that has most of the same specs (P-7801u I think?) but is slightly upgraded and slightly more pricey. Not sure about the 24 inch monitor, but I'd say it depends what you're doing. If you're trying to play Crysis on it, I would speculate that you would have to lower the game graphics settings, but I'm not positive. Yes, you could hook up your 5.1 speakers, but I think you might need an amp? Not sure. I have 5.1 speakers that work great with it, but I go through an amp and HDMI cable.

well there is no best buy where i live, so it would have to be off the internet.

and any info about the 5.1 speakers and this laptop? the z-5500 do have coax and optical, but i am not sure if they are in or not.

You should be just fine as the FX can output multichannel sound via the headphone jack as an S/PDIF output. See this thread.
