This just isn't my day today...

The Media Center, music, and dvd buttons contain no function. Any way to correct this, or is my lappy defective?

Well I go to start>C:\Cabs\A20381-001-001\Hotstart.cmd and hit run, and nothing happens. This isn't the first time today I've dealt with this problem and gateway drivers.

    Any suggestions?

When I hit enter, a windows security window pops up for a registry editor and I allow it to run but nothing happens.

Are you running it as an administrator?

I assume you tried your buttons after that? I remember there wasn't a confirmation for mine, which threw me off.

Test the buttons by changing these?
It might be the buttons that are faulty.

Only thing that worked for me was Hydra's post in the link previous posted. But Going back and changing the registry entry doesn't seem to work. I still get media center coming up rather then wmp. I haven't tried restarting yet, but I doubt that will help. Anyone here been able to successfully remap their keys?

EDIT: Scratch that, all you need is a restart after you finish making changes to the registry (unless there is some way to reload it, which I would love to know). So all in all, bring up your recovery center or DVD and follow Hydra's post, restart with your desired registry settings, and your good to go.
