    Quick question if anyone knows,

I got the 172X-FX, should be here tomorrow, but I didn't think about something until now. I choose Non-RAID. I assume (you know what happens when you do that) that the 172X is the same mobo whether or not it's RAID, so my questions are:

I'm correct in thinking that, right? And! Is the RAID controller in the 172X capable of RAID 1/5 or only 0?

It works with Raid 0 and 1, not sure about 5

You need more than 2 disks for RAID 5 so it's not possible.

I was up way too late last night, woke up this morning and the first thing I said was "Duh."

Heh, 5 does need 3 or more, 2 for data, 1 for parity at least.

Question, I ordered the "non-raid" too because the "raid" one was back ordered, but I can change it to raid 0 in the bios right?

Yes, but you will need to reinstall your os. Beforwe you do that make a driver and app backup disk.

That's really ironic... I had to get a RAIDed version because they told me the non-RAIDed one was on backorder. Interesting.

If you ever decide to remove the RAID, make sure that in the RAID setup menu you delete the RAID volume BEFORE reverting the disks to non-RAID status. Otherwise you won't be able to install the OS.
